This can mean that there is an entering into what some call the witness state and an active remembering that all things are temporary. If we can hang with joy even in the midst of drama things will pass very quickly back into our highest state of health. Learning and knowing that we are not our thoughts is the great allower. This knowing can't be forced but is the result of a "maturing process" that naturally occurs within each of us. There are however some methods that can facilitate transformative maturation; sitting quietly and gently watching our breath are foundational techniques that are always part of the necessary regime.
Actually, as hard as it may be to accept; suffering is a great basic technique for growth as eventually it becomes so distasteful we choose to move towards less painful emotions.
To me healing transformation occurs when we are at a place of relaxed, joyful, total self acceptance...even if there is a temporary malfunction in the mind/body.
